Pronunciation plays a crucial role in achieving your band score.  If you are unsure of the pronunciation, check the online dictionary which is accessible and handy.  You may have spoken a word correctly however if the listener or the examiner did not understand it; you will not be given any benefit of doubt. To an extent, confusion can be created if the unimportant words are stress than the key words.  Ergo, listen to the right pronunciation and speak clearly.  Understand the vowels and consonants sounds, check where you need to stress the word, where you can skip the sound.  For instance- mother is pronounced as m-the-e.

Check the word stress in the following sentences and see how the meaning changes-

I want you to do the job.

I want you to do the job.

I want you to do the job.

Many students speak words incorrectly.  Sometimes they confuse the examiner with their pronunciation.  For example- slip/sleep, flour/flower, return/written
