Story: The Stag and the Hunter

After leaping for long time, the stag rested as he was thirsty. He looked for a pool of water.  Luck was on his side; he found a large lake with stagnant water.  The water was as clear as crystal.  Over the moon and with his eternal thirst, he ran towards it, only to admire himself when he saw his gorgeous reflection in the transparent water.  He looked at himself from all angles and kept admiring his stunning horns.  No doubt, the beauty was worth admiring.  He was blushing and his deary eyes were glowing.  He had never seen himself before.  Hence, the whole episode was taking time to sink in.

The mind played its trick.  The stag’s vision took a u- turn when he saw his sticky legs.  The smile faded away as soon as he noticed his weird legs.  He was in deep mourning.

‘How can I have such an eyesore when I am blessed with awesome pair of beautiful horns!’  He was sorry to see his thin legs.

Sometime after, few of the gun shots were heard in the forest.  A hunter came up with his hounds.  Within no time, all animals were escaping and running to hide, to save their lives.  The stag was afraid of death. He began to run away at the highest speed. His legs carried him as fast as they could. Nevertheless, his horns got entangled with the creepers in the bushes. He was unable to run away, anymore. The hunter came near him and he was shot dead.

His charming horns were lying on the ground, which became the cause of his death.
